چکیده
the most common rheumatic valvular lesion encountered in pregnant patients is mitral stenosis. the clinical presentation of mitral stenosis in pregnancy is further complicated by the physiological increases in cardiac output and blood volume occurring during pregnancy that make the pregnant patient with this valvular disease more susceptible to decompensation. We report a case of a 35-year-old woman presenting at 21 weeks gestation with severe mitral valve disease who underwent percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty under intravenous anesthesia. in the case described, mitral stenosis during pregnancy and available treatment approaches are being discussed.

SHORT TERM CLINICAL OUTCOME OF PERCUTANEOUS BALLOON MITRAL VALVULOPLASTY VERSUS SURGICAL CLOSED MITRAL COMMISSUROTOMY
BaIlon mitral valvuloplasty and closed mitral valve conunissurotomy were performed in 450 and 127 patients, respectively. Also, 254 patients with severe mitral stenosis were enrolled in a prospective randomized trial comparing the two procedures. Immediately after balloon mitral valvuloplasty, mean left atrial pressure was 11.38±3.54 mmHg, transmitral valve gradient was 1.8±2 mmHg, and mit...

Introduction: Mitral stenosis is a prevalent valvular disease in developing countries. Percutaneous mitral balloon valvuloplasty (PMBV) is the gold standard treatment. The main objective of this study was to assess the initial results of PMBV in patients with mitral stenosis during 16 years (2002-2018) in Mashhad, Iran. Materials and Methods: From April 2002 to March 2018, 770 patients underwen...
متن کاملPercutaneous mitral valvuloplasty complicated by cardiac tamponade in a pregnant patient.
The occurrence of hemopericardium with cardiac tamponade is a complication of percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty (BMV) which, although uncommon, may have severe maternal and fetal consequences. This article describes a case of cardiac tamponade following BMV in a 28-year-old woman with severe rheumatic mitral stenosis in the 20th week of gestation.

We have studied the long-term growth and development of seven infants who had been exposed during the foetal stage to ionising irradiation associated with percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty between 1 April 1991 and 30 November 1993. We found that infants of mothers who underwent this procedure during the second and third trimester of pregnancy had normal long-term growth and development....

The relationship between patent foramen ovale and migraine headache is a topic surrounded by much controversy. We present the case of a 45-year-old woman who underwent successful percutaneous mitral balloon valvuloplasty for rheumatic mitral valve stenosis, but had an immediate postprocedural course complicated by refractory migraine headaches. Interestingly, resolution of her headaches coincid...
